Also, there is a graduate student at Berkeley who is into Marine
archaeology and heads an orgaization on pacific maritime archaeological
resources (sorry I can't recally the exact name).  His name is Jim Allan
and can be reached at

Texas A & M University and the Univ of North Carolina at Chapel hill both
have good programs in nautical archaeology.
