Ballots are in the mail, and the ROPA/SOPA dialogue soon will end. I appreciate
the
comments of all contributors to this discussion, especially those of Bill Lipe a
nd
Hester Davis. We have had a serious, well-structured, civil debate that has, I t
hink,
awakened the interest of HISTARCH list members in this very important proposal.
(And, if
I might insert this one barb, a debate not subject to any formal rules of engage
ment.)

It is time to consider our positions and vote. The ROPA vote--regardless of whic
h way it
goes--should reflect the will of the majority of SHA's membership, and not simpl
y the
majority vote.
