     Some information is in:

Hunter, Louis C. Steamboats on the Western Rivers. Harvard
     University Press (1949).

This invaluable work was recently reprinted in paperback. I've been
able to find very little on ferryboats. I'd appreciate it if you
would share any sources you find.

I am interested in finding out any journal articles or books which
address 19th century ferryboats in the southeastern United States. I
would be most appreciative for any help you could provide.
