Here in Ohio, NPS and other groups just initiated a program of selective mowing at earthworks locations, such as the Seip and Junction Earthworks. They really stand out on aerial photography. The Junction Group is a special case as it's also a prairie reserve, so the mowed features really pop out.  Minimally invasive and it gives a sense of scale, even from the ground.
