I would also like to join in and say CONGRATULATIONS to the Quebec
organizers of SHA 2000. For the first SHA annual meeting of the new
decade, the new century and the new millennium it set the standards
for meetings to come.

The city was beautiful, the weather was outstanding [only had to not
fall down on the ice] and the content and organization of the conference
itself matched any previous meeting.

Indeed, SHA 2000 was our first truly international meeting in that for
the first time the SHA went to a location that was outside of the English
speaking world. We were honored by the presence of the Mayor of Quebec, and
other high dignitaries, at our Awards Ceremony-Banquet and were amazed at
the public visibility of historical archaeology in the City of Quebec.

Congratulations to Bill Moss, Pierre Beaudet, Reginald Auger and their
many colleagues. We will never forget SHA 2000 Quebec with over 1,100
members in attendance! What attention to detail (e.g. how did you arrange
to get that hockey puck to hit Pat Martin right on the head during that
game -amazing! or to keep Mel Thurman quiet at the Business Meeting - even
more amazing.)

Please say "thank you" to the citizens of Quebec City and Province. We have
never met such friendly people. Hopefully several years down the line
you might think about inviting SHA once again to Quebec but this time to
Monteal.
