Some of England's major exports from the 16hth (?) century on were
textiles.  The only reference I have handy is
        Brenner, Robert 1993 _Merchants and Revolution:  Commercial Change,
        Political conflict, and London's Overseas Traders, 1550-1653.
        Princeton University Press.
It deals a great deal with the cloth export business in England, I
suspect you need a slightly later period, so you might check for a
convergence of economic history and textiles....
