Tim,

That hits close to home. I was in federal service as an archaeologist for
ten years, starting in 1988; first with the USFS then BLM. One of our FS
biologists was shot while doing a survey (injured but not killed). I was
also on the BLM crew that did the archaeological survey for the Ward Valley
Nuclear Waste Dump, and we had to be accompanied by law reinforcement at
all times because of the armed protesters that constantly harassed us. Back
in my home district, I eventually stopped wearing my field uniform and
always took the magnets off my truck when surveying because I was nearly
always alone.

My deepest sympathies as well,

Linda
