Please post the following position announcement:

Red River Archaeology, LLC (RRA) is a small, woman-owned cultural resources management firm located in Dallas, Texas.  RRA has an immediate opening for a full-time Project Archaeologist due to steady growth in business volume that is anticipated to continue into the future.

We are accepting CVs through October 9, 2013.

Duties and Responsibilities:

*         Conduct Phase I, II, and III fieldwork and direct field crews

*         Prepare technical reports according to state and/or federal standards

*         Assist with historic architectural surveys

*         Conduct archival research (including deed research/chain of title, historic maps and aerial photographs, census and biographic data, etc.)

*         Analyze prehistoric and historic artifacts in the field and in a laboratory setting

*         Travel is anticipated to be approximately 50%.

Qualifications:

*         Master's Degree in Archaeology (or anticipated by December 2013) with field experience in RRA's core region of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Louisiana, and/or Arkansas

*         Listed as a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) or qualified for RPA status by December 2013

*         Minimum two years relevant supervisory field experience

*         Experience with NEPA and Section 106 regulations

*         Demonstrated ability to efficiently perform research and data analysis

*         Excellent technical writing skills and demonstrated ability to complete reports in a timely fashion

*         Knowledgeable in GPS data collection equipment, but must be able to read a topographic map, accurately use a compass, and able to hand-draw accurate pace and compass site maps

*         Must have a valid driver's license

*         Must be able to hike across rough terrain several miles a day while carrying a pack, screen, and shovel

*         Experience directing Phase I survey field crews

*         Excellent organizational skills, ability to fulfill deadline requirements, work on multiple projects at once, and work as an effective team member

*         Ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients

*         Able to be BLM-permitted for Great Plains Region, Southwest Texas Region, and/or Gulf Texas Region a plus

*         Experience directing Phase II testing and/or Phase III data recovery field crews a plus
