I don't want to regulate anything.  I was merely speaking from my
experience as a professional conductor and a professional conduct-ee.
Perhaps there are those in the audience who love to see a conductor dance
around like a marionette.  It has been my lengthy and long-term experience
from both sides of the music stand that this practice is distracting and
detrimental to the music.  Your mileage may vary.
