Can't answer the question, but I just remembered an old favorite. "Henry
Purcell: Songs" sung by Maureen Forrester, an alto I always liked, and
Alexander Young, a tenor who didn't scream, with Martin Isepp on harpsichord
and Brian Priestman cond. the "Vienna Radio Orchestra" is a Westminster
LP pressed by ABC Paramount out of ground-up ex-jukebox pop singles. I
once nominated "What shall I do to show [how much I love her?]' as the
first pop song, imagining love-sick swains buying the sheet music.
