Well to me it seems entirely reasonable that an Australian should conduct
that orchestra and perhaps all other orchestras.  Having seen her conduct,
she should do extremely well.

Imagine an Australian woman conducting the same orchestra Mahler and
Strauss used to conduct!  What would they have thought?

There have been several good Australian conductors.  I think we pull our
weight in that area.
