Elodie Lauten Performances in Manhattan on September 9 and 11 as Part of
Howl Festival

Composer and keyboardist Elodie Lauten will present the Premiere of her
new setting of Allen Ginsberg's poem Velocity of Money on Wednesday,
September 9 at 6 PM. This is in connection with the Howl Festival and
the art exhibition Homage to Ginsberg, presented by Art Loisaida and
Theater for the New City, in the Theater lobby at 155 First Avenue
(between 10th and 11th Streets) in Manhattan.

Performers will be Mary Hurlbut, soprano, Andrew Bolotowsky, flute and
Jonathan Hirschman, guitar.

The event is free and open to the public. More about the Howl Festival
at http://www.howlfestival.com/.

Ms. Lauten will again be in performance on Friday, September 11 - 7PM
at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, 235 Bowery in Manhattan. The
evening, again in connection with the Howl Festival, will be shared with
Ms. Lauten's friends Arthur's Landing, a band devoted to keeping alive
the music of the late Arthur Russell.

This concert will feature Ms. Lauten performing her S.O.S.W.T.C. for
solo synthesizer, written in reaction to the 9/11 tragedy, in an emotional
state immediately transferred to the keyboard. The composer has written,
'If the piece was composed in reaction to the events surrounding the
World Trade Center collapse, it is neither morbid nor elegiac. It is
simply, in a Buddhist sense, a comment on reality with out judgment, a
meditation on the collective consciousness of the time and a healing
intent for the departed spirits of the Twin Towers.'

Tickets for the September 11 performance are $10 for New Museum members
and $12 for the general public. For more information, call 212-219-1222
or visit http://www.newmuseum.org/events/365.
