I never heard the Mitchell/Strickland recording, only the Hyperion.
But the Hyperion notes mention the recording: "The Bortkiewicz Concerto
has been recorded once before, albeit in a heavily cut version."

Hyperion states their recording is the world premiere recording of the
complete work.
