Nicolas Croze-Orton <[log in to unmask]>

>It is well known though in almost all musical circles, that Beethoven`s

This comment cropped up from time to time in the 1880-1960 time frame,
at this point it is a historical curiousity. The source for it seems to
lie with Beethoven's assymetrical melodic structures, and in his use of
melodies which do not readily suggest a modulation.
