Because they're not often played? There are vbery few professional string
trios and you don't often find the second fiddler of a quartet is willing
to step down while the others play a trio...:-)

I agree, and enjoy the trios a lot - I also have the DG recording (Italian
String Trio?) on LP.  I do think the Serenade is a bit long though, having
sat through at least two live performances (good one too).
