Recently I've been listening to a couple of different recordings (Hyperion
CDA66391 and EMI LP C 069-16399) of Mozart's Six Sonatas for flute K. 10
- K. 15. Both recordings indicate that K. 15 is the sixth and last
sonata in B flat major in the set of 6 composed when WAM was 8. One of the
annotators, Carl de NYS (on the EMI) points out many interesting facets of
these early compositions. One which I find the most fascinating is that
the second allegro of K. 14 foreshadows the alla turca of the K. 219
Violin Concerto. Carl de NYS concludes "That these should have been a
child's dreams".
