It is with sadness that I report the passing of Mme. Marie Madeleine
Durufle, organist, pedagogue and wife of the late composer Maurice Durufle.
She passed away yesterday from complications after an injury sustained in
a fall. I had the opportunity to meed this lovely lady a few years ago
when she was in residence at the University of North Texas. She was a
giant among organists and is arguably the last exponent of the French
Neo-Classic school of organ playing. She was sophisticated, charming,
witty and above all, kind. We suffer a great loss at her passing.
