Music of Judith Lang Zaimont Featured on Minnesota Public Radio's
Instrumental Women: Comparing Notes - Program Celebrates Women's
History Month

Instrumental Women: Comparing Notes will be airing on National Public
Radio during the month of March throughout the country. This 2-hour
program, produced and hosted by Lauren Rico and presented by Minnesota
Public Radio, considers the subject of women composers historically and
today and features music and in-studio commentary from featured composers
Judith Lang Zaimont, Joan Tower, Augusta Read Thomas and Libby Larsen.
The program also includes scholar Karin Pendle of the Cincinnati College-
Conservatory of Music Host and presents a wonderfully broad range of
musicians and styles, from 18th-century artist Louise Duval to 20th-century
educational pioneer Ruth Crawford Seeger and contemporary film composer
Rachel Portman. Ellen Taafe Zwillich, Conni Ellisor, and Mary Howe are
among the other musicians featured on the program.

>From chants and chamber works to sonatas and symphonies, Western musical
genres have benefited from the artistry of female composers. This program
shares untold stories of historic women composers and addresses the
impact their missing narratives have had on the female composers of
today.

Airing on Minneapolis/St. Paul's KSJN FM radio on Sunday March 2 from
3-5pm with a rebroadcast on Monday March 3 from 7-9pm, the program will
be heard across the country during the month of March. Please consult
your local PBS radio station listings for broadcasts in your area.
