In the 1860s biographer Thayer wrote that he had seen a complete score
of the concerto in the 1850s when he visited publisher Diabelli. Alas,
but it never popped up and Diabelli never published it. Many years later
a short sketch of the slow movement was found in a library in the UK,
probably dating from his years in Bonn. This sketch has been completed
by my landsmen Jos van der Zanden, musicologist, and Cees Nieuwenhuizen,
composer. A cd is available, containing the part of the oboe concerto,
the piano version of Wellingtons Sieg and some other rarely played
Beethoven pieces.
