This was the first version I heard and still holds a place in my
affections. kentner was a wonderful Lisztian. I particularly enjoyed
Feux Follets, and for me Chasses Neiges had a curious apocalyptic quality.
For the historically minded there is a Kentner recording of Liapunov
"Transcendental Etudes". These frankly Lisztian imitations include a
striking musical portrait of the river Terek. The same river that the
Russians may be about to cross in Chechnya.
