Don wrote on the Naxos Brahms:

>Armed with this insight, I can better understand how some list members
>would disagree strongly with, say, my opinion of the recent Naxos disc
>of Brahms string quartets. I felt that the emotional quotient of the
>performances was exemplary; others, posting me privately, thought the
>performances too stiff and neutral.

What Don wrote suprised me a lot. Why do we have a list? To exchange
our wievs on this neverending and intriguing subject of classical music.
Since I don't have any recordings of, and actually haven't heard, the
Brahms Quartets, Don's posting interested me a lot and I was planning to
buy this CD. Of course, Don recommendation is a good enough reason to
spend the small amount of money needed fo a Naxos CD. But, I thought he
whole idea of this list is to share our views, discuss various standpoints
etc. I for one would be interested to know what other people think about
this CD. What is the point in being on the list if you discuss privatley
with members of the group insted of on the list? Patrik
