I would stay away from the Barenboim.  There is Boulez if you already
like his sort of conducting/interpreting.  For Karajan, I know of, listen
to two versions- 1968 with Salzburg and (1951 I think) Bayreuth- which
is surprisingly good, far exceeded my expectations both in terms of music
and sound quality.
