The earliest example AFAIK, and one of the best-known, is the ballet Les
Sylphides (orig. Chopiniana) performed in St. Petersbug in 1907. The
first version had 5 pieces of Chopin orchestrated by Glazunov. Later
version included furhter pieces orchestrated by Keller, Tcherepnin, Lyadov
and (gulp!) Stravinsky.
