Volodos' first disc was an astonishing technical display, despite
less than first-class sound (rec. at more than one venue on two mediocre
instruments). The two discs that followed were disappointing. But I would
like to hear him in concert. How about a "shoot-out" like some of the 19th
century "competitions?" "The Three Pianists" (UGH!): Volodos, Hamelin, and
. . .(your choice).
