Well, Ormandy and the Philadelphia is a nice compromise among price,
performance, and sound quality.  I also enjoy Marriner and ASMF on Philips.
Other really fine Tchaikovsky conductors include Szell, Mravinsky,
Dohnanyi, Svetlanov, Koussevitzky, and Mengelberg - the latter two
"historic" in sound.  I would avoid Dorati, normally a wonderful
Tchaikovsky conductor, in the Serenade.
