Music of Christopher Kaufman to Be Performed by Long Beach Festival
Orchestra on May 27 as Part of Long Island ArtsFest

The Twilight Festival Series of Long Island ArtsFest will present The
Long Beach Festival Orchestra, with Christopher Kaufman conducting the
World Premiere of his new composition 'Imagined Scenes' for Orchestra
on Sunday May 27 - 6 PM at Kennedy Plaza in Long Beach, New York.  The
orchestra's Music Director Yakov Dyman will also conduct works by Mozart,
Weber and Brahms.

This new work was arranged by Mr. Kaufman specifically for the Long
Beach Festival Orchestra, which includes musicians from the Rockaway-Five
Towns Symphony Orchestra.

After years of a career almost exclusively as a composer and presenter
of concert music, Christopher Kaufman is now pursuing his roots in the
theater.  He has scored music to documentaries such as Diana Naftal's
'Disarmed and Dangerous', his 'Sixteen Shorts', and other films.  He
scored Dominick Rossetti's film version of 'Pickles and the Junkman's
Daughter' and 'Lightning Bug' video.  He is also producing audio book
projects and other ventures such as commercials and political advocacy
advertisements.

Christopher Kaufman has composed music for a wide variety of mediums
including orchestra, wind ensemble, dance, chamber groups, theater and
solo works.  His music has been featured at June in Buffalo, The Charles
Ives Music Center, the NorthEastern Composer's Conference, Encore Summer
Music, The Internationales Musikinstitut of Darmstadt, Germany and
Eastman's Musica Nova.  His Ring of Fire for orchestra was featured at
the American Composers Orchestra readings.  He has been a fellow four
times at the MacDowell Arts Colony.  He has received commissions from
the Southwest Minnesota Orchestra, the Brian Israel Fund, the Presbyterian
Church of Rome, NY, St.  Thomas Episcopal Church of Slaterville, NY and
Encore Summer Music and grants from the M.F.  J.  Copying Fund, Meet the
Composer, UCC Council on the Arts, CAP and the CAP individual artists'
award.  Kaufman produces much of his work at his own Kaufman Studios in
