I agree - if you absolutely MUST list a typical symphony the Second
is a good candidate.  The first is great, and I agree on the Kubelok
performance.  But there is an element of hysteria in the First which I find
disconcerting for some middle class reason, and which is absent from then
on in Mahler's work.
