The Rite of Spring. The second movement of Shostakovich's 11th. The
loudest music I've ever heard - Poul Ruders' "Gong".

The other possibility, David, is to select a short section from any piece
of music you like using the A-B button on your CD player - the tam-tam
smash at the end of the second movement of Respighi's Church Windows would
be ideal. Leave it to play very loudly and repetitively while you spend
the evening at the pub or a concert.
