Christopher Webber's ideas on how to listen to Handel are interesting.
Thanks. Like he says, Beethoven and Mozart can't be wrong. I need to
give the matter more thought. Surprisingly perhaps, I do have a couple
of Handel operas in my CD collection. I should find the time to do some
focussed listening. It is, I suppose, an obvious truth that one needs
to listen to different composers in different ways, but probably one
usually makes the adjustment unconsciously. Maybe there are cases
where one has to do it consciously.
