For today's picks I'd like to introduce a new ensemble, based in Mallorca,
the "Illa de Mallorca" Chamber Orchestra. Led by concertmaster/conductor
Barry Sargent, this young group, composed of musicians from Mallorca as
well as from the Spanish peninsula and other countries in Europe. Their
debut concert, at the excellent Palma Auditorium in February 1999 can be
heard in it's entirety on their mp3 page, http://mp3.com/mallorca.

Here are direct links to the first movements of the works they play on the
program, the Tchaikovsky Serenade for Strings, Haydn's Symphony #83, and
the Coronation Mass of Mozart. Be sure to go to their main page to hear
the complete works, as well as enjoy some lovely photographs of the
Mallorcan coastline!
