It is a great recording, but anyway i think maybe is the best he recorded.
Concerning his relationship with Schnabel,i think is not a great deal to
play good or not, since i think (from my very personal point of view, and for
reasons to long to explain via E-Mail)Schnabel is not a real good example
as the kind of piano god many people think he was. For me,Fleischer is by
far much better pianist and musician than Schnabel. At least he has a clear
idea of Rhitmical stability. About technique, everybody knows the level
Fleischer have in this field. But sometimes for this supreme command on
the instrument,he exceeds virtuosity, and played many times thinking in
speed and virtuosity in itself, instead of the big goal of music. An
example is his recording of the "Wanderer Phantasy" specially in the
last movement. It sounds like a mega Czerny etude. So dry and unexpressive,
but incredible fast. Best regards.
