You'll get over it...at one time I didn't appreciate Brahms' 4th but
that was then and this is now.  An awful lot has to do with the recording
you are listening to.  If all you heard was Kleiber or Szell then I can
understand why you didn't care for the music.  On the other hand Bruno
Walter or Stokowski or Barbirolli will open to you a completely different
world.  A piece of music is more than one recording.  The same is true
of the 2nd concerto.  Barbirolli and Barenboim give the music a completely
different hue than others.  It is in the phrasing.
