This is more kitch than anything, but I have a cool Peter & the Wolf with
Stokowski/Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Narrator is Capitan Kangaroo!
I think it's on Everest.  More a novelty than a staple of course.

I also have some R. Strauss melodramas from the complete chamber music
series on Arts, and I don't like them much.

I have to second Histoire du Soldat though, great great stuff.
