The very first commercial recording (in the Grofe arrangement) has been
reissued at least two times, once on Pearl. Gershwin was not fond of
it. There are also some excerpts of his own performance in a different
orchestration which survive and have been issued on CD. Their first issue
was on a group of discs from Mark Records. It is interesting to hear
Gershwin's own readings of his concert works...very straight!

According to one of Gershwin's friends, he prefered that his concert works
be taken seriously with little affection in the performance.
