Sir, "it is no problem;" oh, perhaps a bit of a problem.

If you have a CD-R component in your computer and, I suggest, the latest
version "Adaptec" you will be able to transfer the old 78s with only a fair
amount fiddling and fumbling. Note: I found "Memorex" CD-R blanks worked
well with my "Gateway 2000" computer.

Given the worn surfaces I simply placed the microphone fairly near the
borrowed 78 rpm phonograph's loudspeaker and 'went to.' Note: you may or
may not have to call your computer supplier to load the software for your
microphone. Either that or get in touch with almost any 14-year-old boy
(or girl) and he (or she) will know more than most of us about setting your
system up for recording.

Assume that you will botch the job at first and that you need to have a
modicum of ability to endure frustration, again, only at first.

Another approach: find that 14-year-old and ask him (or her) to make the
recordings.

Good luck and if you think I might help, please get back in touch.

Best regards,
Whitney Gordon
