Our public radio station keeps advising us that the Kennedy Center's
program honoring the UK will be presenting what I keep hearing as
"Britten's *Mill on the Floss*". I've never heard of a Britten work by
that name (not have I read Mary Ann Evans' novel by that name). Checking
the list of Britten's works in the New Grove, I could find no reference to
any piece called *Mill on the Floss*.

Could a work by that name have been written by someone whose name sounds
like "Britten" to a person whose hearing may have become affected by
onsetting age?
