I've been greatly enjoying "Cameo"'s 'Album Leaves' CD recently.
Normally I listen to contemporary music, but this delightful collection of
19th century works for two flutes and piano has been a refreshing change.
The group is led by pianist Richard Shaw.  Richard Shaw, the official
accompanist at the Royal Academy of Music in London, specialises in music
for flute and piano, and I have never met a flautist with such an extensive
knowledge of the flute repertoire as he has.  On this CD he is joined by
flautists Anthony Robb and Janet Larsson.

The recording includes music by for 2 flutes and piano by Doppler, Wesley,
Kohler, Furstenau, Kronke and Busoni.  The Busoni is a fascinating find,
an early work (he was just 14 when it was written) which reveals an early
interest in counterpoint.  Also included are works for solo flute and piano
by Donizetti and Busoni and works for solo piano.  For me, the highlight of
the disk was the performance of Chabrier's 'Album leaf' for solo piano,
performed with great sensitivity and subtlety.  The CD is released by KLT
Records.
