Not sure about the "allegreto" style or time but the "bafoonesque" part
of your description might describe something the Fitzwilliams recorded on
a London CD (their only DDD Shostakovich recording???) containing "Two
Pieces for String Quartet, "Piano Quintet" (with Ashkenazy), and "Seven
Romances on Poems of Alexander Blok".  Wonderful recording IMHO.
