I was able to sing with our San Francisco Opera in Boris Godonov in the
70s (in Russian) and Feodor Chaliapin (as it's most spelled here) was very
popular here at the time.  I still have a couple of his LPs.  Magnificent
singer.

I feel he was!  A BIG name at the time I was very focused on opera
(standing-room 3 times a week).
