Forlane included 3 pieces by Foulds (all fairly traditional for a composer
sometimes described as England's answer to Ives; but even these pieces
often suggest composers of more recent providence... Hovhaness (of all
people) in particular) on its _Masters of the English Musical Renaissance_
set (with music by WHBrian & Parry); but that set was deleted a couple of
years ago. I've tended to assume that Lyrita has gone the same way, since
i haven't seen a new disc from the label in ages: essentially a private
fiefdom which did most of its (usually sponsored - not uncommonly by one
Ken Russell) recording in the 70s, the owner of Lyrita has recently been
known mostly for a fairly extreme eccentricity (& it takes a fellow nut to
know one)... unfortuantely: the combination of premium-plus prices &
off-putting management decisions put the likelihood of a wide circulation
of Lyrita's often fascinating CD reissues at something closely ressembling
zero....
All the best,
