Steve Schwartz posted an anecdote about Shostakovich composing while
inebriated. Peter Shickele related this story on his show recently though
not as well as Steve did. Shickele also cited the child Mozart as an
example of composing under time pressure outside of the normal. Apparently
he was locked in a room and ordered to compose for disbelieving adults who
doubted the genuiness of his compositions.

Any other examples of composers functioning this way?
