Walter Meyer:

>Our public radio station keeps advising us that the Kennedy Center's
>program honoring the UK will be presenting what I keep hearing as
>"Britten's *Mill on the Floss*". I've never heard of a Britten work by
>that name (not have I read Mary Ann Evans' novel by that name).

The novel is by George Eliot and what you heard conflated, I think, two
different programs in the festival: a performance of Britten's War Requiem
and a theatrical production of an adaptation of the novel. There is more
information about the festival at the Kennedy Center's website.
