Quoting Peter <[log in to unmask]>:

Peter Godaniburg listed a number of factors in producing digital
downloads that I hadn't considered and said:

Peter has some excellent information, which I admittedly didn't take
into account. However, just for grins I did a search on Rhapsody for
the download price of tracks from a number of labels. Here are the
results:

Joshua Bell-Sony Classics- $.89 per track.
Rachel Barton Pine-Cedille Records- $.89 per track.
Idil Biret-Naxos- .$89 per track.
Leif Ove Andsnes-EMI- $.89 per track.
Paavo Jarvi-Virgin Classics- $.89 per track.
Pinchas Zuckerman-RCA- $.89 per track.

Vadim Repin-Deutsche Grammophon- $2.99 per track

Interestingly enough, I searched three other DG artists (Martha Argerich,
Herbert von Karajan and Maurizio Pollini) to discover that Rhapsody
offered their tracks at $.89.

SOOOO, if all of the above can make their music available for download
at less than a dollar a track via Itunes and Rhapsody, somebody please
explain what's so special about dgwebshop that makes them have to charge
three and a half times the price.

Kevin
