Ron Chaplin and other have commented on Berio's Sequenza XII for Bassoon

There is an extensive article on this piece in Double Reed News issue 52,
(the magazine of the British Double Reed Society) called "Berio, Gallois
and the Sequenza XII" by Kari Krueger Shea and in the IDRS magazine "The
Double Reed".

The article definitely confirms the use of circular breathing and throws
some interesting light on Berio's ideas in Sequenza XII.
