According to Halliwell's, Silvers was the musical director but Honegger
the composer.  Perhaps Bassett did some arranging?

As for the movies themselves, Pauline Kael wrote that Baur was the better
inspector, but the American version had the better Raskolnikov (Peter
Lorre).
