Some violin concerti that I've enjoyed in recent years include those
by Edward Elgar; Eduard Tubin (particularly #2), Nikolai Miaskovsky,
Gian Carlo Menotti, E. J. Moeran, Robert Russell Bennett, Ermanno
Wolf-Ferrari, Roy Harris, and William Walton (although his viola concerto
is better).  You might also check out Evegeni Svetlanov's "Poem for Violin
& Orchestra" and John Corigliano's "Chanconne for Violin & Orchestra" from
his score for the film "The Red Violin."
