I'd borrowed the 6-CD EMI album 'Villa-Lobos par Lui-meme' on the very
day Bernard Chasan posted this:

>Some time ago an occasional contributor to this list gave a very strong
>recommendation for number 11. I am indebted to him. It is a masterpiece-
>a huge piano concerto, or perhaps more accurately, three concerti in its
>three movements. An excellent recording exists on Ondine, I believe- with
>Rolf Golthoni (spelling?) as soloist.

Aside from one symphony, a PC, nine Bachianas, several Choros and a few
other works, this EMI set has a version of this mega-work (21:30; 23:35;
& 17:50) with Aline van Barentzen on piano, and lui-meme conducting the
Orchestre National de la Radiodiffusion Francaise.

'Not sure if this EMI CZS 7 67229 2 A + B (mono) is nla, but I certainly
second BC's enthusiasm. In fact, I've just returned from the store with
Villa-Lobos's 5 PCs on a London double Decca, eager to hear more.
