08:00 and 15:50 - Leif Ove Andsnes is a fine young pianist.  He's given a
spotlight by both BBC3 and Antena2 today.  The BBC3 Lunchtime Concert has
him in solo works by Liszt and Nielsen while Antena2's Euroradio broadcast
has him with the City of Birmingham SO in Beethoven's 4th concerto.

08:11 - CBC Radio 2 has an all-day "Mahler Day" starting with "Das klagende
Lied" at 08:11 in a recording of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, City of
Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Chorus with Simon Rattle; at 10:05 Symphony
Hall highlights Maureen Forrester with the 4th mvmt - Symphony #2 and
selections from Des knaben Wunderhorn; at 14:50 OnStage re-creates "Lieder
Abend mit Orchester," a concert originally organised and conducted by
Mahler in 1905 at Vienna's Musikverein during which his intensely moving
song-cycle "Kindertotenlieder" was premiered; at 22:05 Two New Hours has
Luciano Berio's "In ruhig fliessender Bewegung from Sinfonia" (Based on
Mahler's Resurrection Symphony) - New Swingle Singers, Orchestre National
de France, Pierre Boulez.

09:45 - BBC3 has Benjamin Britten's "War Requiem" in a recording from
the BBC archives conducted by the composer and Carlo Maria Guilini with
Stefania Woywicz (soprano), Peter Pears (tenor) and Hans Wilbrink
(baritone).

14:30 - BBC3 has a performance of `The Tender Land', Copland's only
full-length stage opera, about a mother and daughter in the American
South during the Depression.
