Just a few days after the twilight of their broadcasts of the Metropolitan
Opera, Chevron-Texaco, Inc reported record revenues for the most recent
quarter. The Financial Times said that just in the past three months,
C/T netted over 2-billion dollars US. As a result of recent increases
in gas prices at the pump, and the failure of heating oil prices to
decline in the spring, oil companies are swimming in profits like Scrooge
McDuck. Maybe Chev/Tex is sorry they let this positive PR sponsorship
go away... for some opinion-leaders, it was the only source of good
will any oil company offered.
