I just received the three DVD disc set and recommend it. The picture and
sound transfers to DVD of the original Fantasia are remakably better than
even those in its fine laser disc format. The Fantasia 2000 disc is of
course state of the art in picture and sound, and is slanted even more
than the original version toward an audience of children (and is 40 minutes
shorter), and frankly is not as good as the older one, IMO. However, it is
still very enjoyable. The third disc is a Fantasia Original and Fantasia
2000 Legacy documentary (161 minutes long) of all aspects of the creation
of the two, and is thoroughly fascinating. The set should make a fine
holiday present for young and old.
